Day 3 – A Week Of Giving

Day 3 – A Week Of Giving

For years – as long as I can remember, Techneeds has participated in the Salem Santa Fund (I’ve been at Techneeds for 21 years). I remember way back, that we would sponsor a family, and we as employees would bring in an item on the families wish list. At some point, Techneeds decided that this would become part of our annual donations and has financially sponsored a family since. This allows the family to secure a holiday meal, and purchase some of their “wish” items to provide joy on Christmas morning for their children. This year we selected a family of three.
Through donations from other community businesses, and organizations they also support many elderly folks struggling to afford food. The Knights of Columbus does an annual new coat drive as well. The Salem Christmas Fund is 100% volunteer-based; there are no paid employees. This program has touched the lives of so many in our Salem community for over 40 years. What we do, changes people’s lives. When our team places someone on assignment with one of our clients, it could mean they can secure housing, ensure they can put food on the table, or allow them to pay a heating bill. This morning it was 14 degrees.
We just don’t know how our help could change the trajectory of someone’s situation in life no matter what role you serve on our team. Collectively, we are making a difference too; and I’m proud of the work we did this year more than ever.
