1. Goal-Setting

Establish goals at work. That way, you can figure out what you want to accomplish and take appropriate steps to achieve your aspirations. In addition, you can determine the best course of action to manage your time with care and precision.

Use SMART goals for work. These goals are specific, measurable, actionable, relevant, and time-bound. They serve as guides as you try to accomplish a variety of work tasks day after day.

Furthermore, create daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals. As you work toward achieving your work goals, track your progress. If you hit the mark on certain goals, develop new ones. Or, if you fall short of accomplishing various goals, revise them accordingly.

2. Prioritization

Audit your work schedule and how long it takes you to complete myriad tasks. At this point, you can figure out what tasks are most important. From here, you can establish work priorities.

Prioritize work based on its value. For instance, a work assignment can be classified as a high-priority task if it needs to be delivered to a client within a designated time frame. Comparatively, a work assignment can be classified as low-priority if it provides a limited return on investment to customers or other stakeholders within your organization.

If you need help with prioritization, meet with your manager. Then, you and your manager can determine what work tasks are priorities.

3. Scheduling

Develop a schedule that enables you to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Your schedule should allow you to work to the best of your ability. At the same time, your schedule should not force you to sacrifice your well-being to get work done on schedule and on budget.

Resist the urge to try to tackle too many tasks at once. Rather, stick to a set work schedule whenever possible. And if you work remotely, try not to work outside of standard business hours.

Lastly, take breaks throughout your workday. Maintain a flexible schedule that enables you to enjoy lunch and take time to yourself at different points during the day. This ensures you can break away from the hustle and bustle of work at times. It can help you feel and perform your best at work, too.
