5 Tips to Stay Motivated After the Holidays

Your holiday break was delightful. But the break is over. And now, you must resume your daily work. Yet staying motivated to perform your best may seem virtually impossible.

Ultimately, getting back into the hustle and bustle of work following a holiday break can be difficult. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to stay motivated at work after the holidays. These include:

1. Start Small

Establish minor goals and work diligently to achieve them. From here, you can become more accustomed to business as usual. Eventually, you’ll reach a point where you are performing at peak levels once again.

Furthermore, it helps to establish daily goals. You can make a list of work to get done on a given day. Next, you can check out each item on your list as you finish it. This can help you build momentum as you perform task after task.

2. Eliminate Distractions

Turn off your cell phone, log out of your social media accounts, and remove any other potential work distractions. This ensures you can focus on what’s most important: getting the job done to the best of your ability.

Don’t forget to establish and maintain a quiet and productive workspace, either. Here, you’ll be able to get work done, without having to worry about disruptions.

3. Take Regular Breaks

Resist the urge to try to do too much at work. Conversely, take breaks as you normally would throughout the workday. Each break gives you a chance to recharge your body and mind. When you return from a break, you’ll be well-equipped to perform your best.

4. Maintain a Healthy Work-Life Balance

Put your work-life balance front and center. If you feel overwhelmed by work, take appropriate measures to de-stress. For instance, you can use deep breathing to calm your nerves. Or, you can go for a walk, meditate, or perform other mindfulness activities.

If your motivation remains a persistent struggle and affects your work-life balance, consult with your manager. At this time, you and your manager can brainstorm ways to help you improve your work-life balance.

5. Connect to Your Peers

Reach out to peers and engage with them throughout the workday. Together, you and your peers can support one another and motivate each other to perform their best.

Keep the lines of communication open with your work colleagues. Remain accessible via email and other communication platforms. This ensures that you will have no trouble staying connected to your peers, and vice versa.
